Bananas are delicious and loaded with essential vitamins and nutrients, but is this popular human food, so can dogs eat bananas? Absolutely! Bananas are a brilliant choice for a healthy, fat-free, low-calorie treat. They’re low in cholesterol and packed with nutrients to support your dog’s overall health.
So, what I want to do is take you back in time; it’s a little bit of an emergency. This situation took place about seven or eight years ago… and now and then, my girlfriend would tell me this story. But because she tells it so often, whenever she does tell it… I nod and pretend that I’ve never heard it before.
However, I think that the story is worth telling again… because it’s a good one. There was a time when she looked out the window and saw a bunch of people doing a little dance… a lot of hopping around, bobbing up and down, and waving their arms in the air. So obviously, there was a reason for this; something was going on. And when she looked closely, the reason became apparent: there was a dog nearby, and it had picked up a banana peel.
And like any average person would do… they rushed over to the dog and started beating him with their shoes while yelling at him not to eat it. They were trying to get the dog to give it up because clearly, he wanted to eat this thing. But we all know what happens when you make a dog angry… and in this case, they were not going to stop until the banana was in their stomach. However… they got lucky… because somebody happened to have some scissors on them, so they decided to cut the banana up into tiny pieces. Well, that seemed to work for a few seconds, but after maybe 30 or 40 seconds, the dog just ignored them and went back to eating the banana.
And then finally… it got down to this one piece of banana that was about 15 centimetres long (or almost 6 inches); the thing wouldn’t have fit in the dog’s mouth. So this woman just decided that she had to step in… because if there was one thing sure about this dog, it was that he wasn’t going to stop until the banana was gone. These people are trying to make him give up on this banana; they know for a fact that it’s not going to happen.
So this woman looked at the banana… she looked at the dog… and then decided that what she had to do was grab hold of the banana and rip it away from him. And after that, they were able to separate the two of them… leaving this poor little dog with a very severely damaged ego.
And then she smiled, and for a moment, there was peace in the world. And finally… everybody started to return to their everyday lives. After all, it’s not every day that you see a dog get beat up over a banana peel. But this thing had a long way to go before it was going to be okay.
It didn’t take too long before the dog started to heal… and it wasn’t going to be more than a few minutes later when his wounds had healed over enough for him to go back outside. It was late in the evening, so he thought that maybe he could get a few bites of something out in the yard… or perhaps a quick trip to the park, where he could steal somebody’s burger off of their plate.
But then… from out of nowhere comes this big ball of fur flying through the air and right onto his back. And as you might imagine, this dog started freaking out because it had no idea what was going on. But finally, after a few moments, he realized that this “big ball of fur” was just a cat. And the poor little dog, he just started running around madly trying to shake it off his back.
And at first, everything seemed fine… until the cat wrapped its legs around the dog’s neck and refused to let go. And then they went into this big tussle that kept the dog from being able to do anything. So he ran around here and there and even over to the sandbox before falling into it.
At this moment, the cat got off his back… so this dog thought for sure that everything was going to be okay. But then suddenly, this cat jumped down and landed right on top of him. And the dog, having nowhere to go… just stood there and took it.
But then, like a miracle from God himself, this little boy ran over and started pulling the cat off of the dog. And as soon as he was free, this poor little pup came running up to his master and started licking his face. What was important, though… it didn’t take more than a few moments before the dog went into another seizure; this one had him on the ground for almost five minutes.
And then finally, after all of that running around… he came back to his senses. But immediately afterwards, he looked down at his paws and saw that one of them had been bleeding. Well, after a few seconds, the little dog was fine again… but this cat hadn’t learned its lesson yet.
So as soon as it realized the dog was getting up off the ground, this cat flew him and landed right on top of his back. And then it wrapped its legs around his neck and started choking him. And the poor little dog, he was having a hard time breathing… but this time there wasn’t anybody around to save him.
And then suddenly, out of nowhere came this giant dog that was about 170 pounds. And at first, it looked like nothing more than an angel flying through the sky… but then it came down on the cat and started giving him some severe scratches. And while this was happening, the little dog got up off of the ground… but he wasn’t able to get too far before falling over again because his paws were all bloody.
And after that, everything seemed like it was going to be okay. The two animals took off in opposite directions… leaving both of them looking pretty beat up. And after a while, the dog got back to his feet again and started walking around with this big smile on his face.
So if your dog eats bananas, it won’t necessarily kill him. But it would be best if you still considered that all kinds of things out there can hurt him. And sometimes, they can do more damage than you might think.
But if your dog does somehow manage to get himself into a brawl where another animal bites him, there are some things that you can do to help him out. For example, keep an eye on his paws… make sure that they don’t start bleeding or swelling because that means he might have to see the vet.

Yes, dogs can eat bananas, but pets owners shouldn’t feed them too many. Bananas are good for them and offer several health benefits like potassium essential for muscles and nerves. Bananas also help with digestion and contain other healthy elements, including fibre.
